DaVinci Resolve 101

Learn to complete postproduction from edit to finish using Blackmagic Design’s Fusion & DaVinci Resolve.

These two applications form a post-production powerhouse for editing, color correction, effects work and finishing. This course will introduce you to the Blackmagic Design post-production environment. You’ll learn to navigate the new Resolve editing paradigm, learn basic color theory and workflow with its world-class color correction tools, and look at the secondary tracking and masking system.

Then we’ll dive into visual effects, leveraging Resolve’s integration with Fusion, a world-class compositing platform in its own right. You’ll learn the basics of node-based workflow and how to complete basic greenscreen and paint work.

Finally we’ll bring it all together and use Resolve’s float-precision rendering to export to a variety of delivery formats. Together Resolve and Fusion form the basis of a complete finishing solution rivaling the Autodesk offerings of Smoke and Flame.

Prerequisite: While familiarity with digital imaging applications is helpful, no prior experience with compositing or editing is required
