Mobile Apps 101

Mobile Apps 101

Since the advent of the iPhone, app stores and the mobile app marketplace have transformed the software industry. Apps quickly redefined the distribution of all media and have significantly disrupted most industries.

As the technology, infrastructure, power and capability of mobile devices continues to grow, this new paradigm in mass-market distribution promises to revolutionize even more businesses and industries. New mobile devices, peripherals, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and the Internet of Things will create ever more opportunities for app innovation.

Mobile Apps 101 is designed to introduce a new generation of creators to the tools, art and craft of app development.

Beginning with a high-level survey of the currently available and newly emerging platforms, marketplaces and development environments, students will be introduced and gain hands-on experience with the latest Apple Developer tools, including XCode, Interface Builder and the Swift programming language. By the end of the course, students will have experienced a complete app development process and acquired knowledge of and experience with all essential Apple development technologies.

Prerequisite: Students should have basic computer and mobile phone skills. No prior programming experience is expected, any previous UI/UX, coding or development experience will certainly be beneficial but is not required.
