Costume Development

Costume Development

This weekend workshop is an introductory class suited to all levels of digital skills. Students will learn the fundamentals of costume development through digital demos, exercises, worksheets and brainstorming techniques. Since costume development is suitable for many types of design practices, students will also learn how to apply what they have learned to a broad range of design disciplines.

It will teach students to use the principles of costume development through digital applications; a skill that can be applied to all types of character design. Upon completion of this class, students will have created a detailed digital costume for a character, and will come away with a set of tools for use in future costume designs.

Over the course of 2 days, some of the subjects covered will include Research in the Digital Age, Fashion Theory & History, pulling things together on Digital Inspiration Boards, and how then to transform Ideas into Costumes.

Prerequisite: Working knowledge of the computer.
